Happy Feast Day of St. Andrew!

Today the Church celebrates St. Andrew, one of the Twelve Apostles called by Our Lord.

“The Apostle Andrew … teaches us to follow Jesus with promptness (cf. Matthew 4:20; Mark 1:18), to speak enthusiastically about Him to those we meet, and especially, to cultivate a relationship of true familiarity with Him, acutely aware that in Him alone can we find the ultimate meaning of our life and death.” – Pope Benedict XVI

He is best known for being a fisherman and the brother of St. Peter and for his martyrdom on an X-shaped cross.

St. Andrew Christmas Novena

The Saint Andrew’s Christmas Novena prayer below is traditionally prayed 15 times a day from November 30, the Feast of Saint Andrew, through Christmas Eve. Hail, and blessed be the hour and moment at which the Son of God was born of a most pure Virgin at a stable at midnight in Bethlehem in the piercing cold. At that hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee, to hear my prayers and grant my desires.

(Mention your intentions here)

Through Jesus Christ and His most Blessed Mother.

Amen
